Albufeira is a lovely coastal city situated in the southern Algarve region of Portugal, near Faro. The transfer time between Faro airport and Albufeira is only around 40 minutes. Additionally, you can fly direct to Faro from Bristol, which is very convenient! It used to be a fishing village, but is now a bustling and incredibly lively destination, which makes it especially popular for group holidays, and is ideal for a long weekend break.
The city has a lovely combination of beaches and town. The Old Town is stunning with an array of traditional restaurants. It also has a fun, lively atmosphere in the evenings which makes it perfect for dancing with your friends or just watching the world go by with a cocktail in hand!
Lisa was based near the main strip of Albufeira (a 45 minute walk). Alternatively, the journey cost €8 in a taxi, which was a reasonable price. A big attraction of Albufeira is its beaches, which are beautiful and central. You can easily spend your day wandering along them, or lounging on a beach towel – whatever you wish to do! Alternatively, there are also lots of museums and public gardens which are worth a visit, meaning you won’t run out of things to do.
Albufeira makes a great destination for all types of people, as there are lots of child-friendly facilities for families. The large number of bars and clubs means it is unsurprisingly popular with groups of young adults, but this doesn’t mean it isn’t somewhere you will be unable to relax – the city manages to successfully balance partying with relaxation!
